Just want to say Hello to all members of this group. I too have been, and still am a caregiver. My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2000, and I kept her with me, and, my husband for several years before the Nursing Home decision was made. It truly is a horrible illness that rips the person you knew and loved all your life right from you. I also am a member/advocate of the Alzheimers Association of America, and I am still very much involved with my mom’s care in the nursing home. At the grand old age of 50, my life certainly did a turnaround. I gave up my job, and so many other things in life to insure my mom had a quaility life before the illness and Nursing Home took her from me, and I would to the same over again if I had too. It is so hard to watch this happen to our loved one. I look forward to meeting and chatting with all of you, and sharing and helping each other get through this. Even though my mom is in a home, I still am very involved with her, and her ongoing treatment. I also my add that my husband is a colon cancer survivour, and thankfully is in remission at this time. One never knows what life has in store for us, and maybe the best lesson I took from all of this is patinence and understanding of others. Even though I did have to give up a great job with benefits and all that good stuff, out of this I started a business that I love, and continue to grow with it. So not all was lost, and I did have mom with me longer then I would have ever thought. So it is with great pleasure I come to this group, and look forward to learning and growing with all…
