It`s all another language to me now. How does the new MMSE affect patients taking Aricept. My husband has been on Aricept for six years and I want him to stay on it. Does the new test mean that if he fails it he can`t be on Aricept or exactly what is it all about besides research.

Jade—Unless I missed something…Your husband can stay on Aricept for as long as you want to continue filling the prescription.

The MMSE is nothing but a test that provides some sort of gauge of an individuals decline…and…Not a qualification for the continued prescription of Aricept.

I live in Canada, and the MMSE is used to determine if the Aricept is helping or not. If the doctor thinks “not” it isn’t covered by Pharmacare, you have to pay for it yourself. Is there a pass and fail on the new MMSE?
