Campaign Story

On March 21st my mom would have been 84 years old.  This is her first birthday in heaven, after contracting COVID-19 19 last year during the unprecedented, horrible early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although sad and tragic as no one ever could have anticipated this was the way my mom would leave this world, I don’t want to dwell on the negative.  Rather, I want to do something positive in her honor and memory.

A couple years prior to the start of the pandemic, my mom was diagnosed with moderate dementia.  In retrospect, there had been signs for years, but for a long time my sisters and I didn’t realize just how significantly her memory loss was affecting her day-to-day life and safety.  No one wants to think about their own parent struggling in this way.  Thankfully she never got to the point where she did not recognize me or remember my name (although sometimes needed prompting 😊).

In my mom’s memory, in honor of her birthday, I am raising money for The Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation:

The Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation is an organization that provides millions of dollars for novel Alzheimer’s research primarily conducted by the late Nobel Laureate Dr. Paul Greengard and his team of over 40 internationally renowned scientists at the Fisher Center lab at The Rockefeller University, plus other leading research institutes around the world.

The Fisher Center lab at The Rockefeller University is one of the largest and most modern scientific facilities in the world dedicated to solving the puzzle of Alzheimer’s disease.

Their mission is to understand the causes of Alzheimer’s disease, improve the care of people living with it, and find a cure.

Their vision is working towards a future where Alzheimer’s is nothing but a memory.

My goal is to raise $2021 by her birthday, March 21st – because I have a lot of hope for this year.

I hope you will join me in honoring my mom by supporting this great foundation.

Thank you!  xo
